From Traunstein in the wide world - and back: In "Stadt Land Fluss", the fifth album in eight years, processes the Bavarian songwriter the theme of their lives: the way Hergerissenheit between town and country, far and near, pulsating, quietly runs consistently through the soulful folk and blues rock album that re-appear on Honu Lani Records / Universal Music (released 27/02/2015) and sometimes in New York was mixed.
Two years moving behind Claudia Koreck. During the tour, the fourth album "Honu Lani" (published in January 2013), the young songwriter for the second time became pregnant at the same time prepared them and her husband, the producer Gunnar Graewert, the relocation of MÜnchen Traunstein before, back to the country where the family of artists who built a house. Milestones that are reflected in the pieces of their new CD. "I'm always so doing: The subjects that move me, I deal with in my songs," says Claudia Koreck. "That seems the most natural in front. This is the reason why I make music."
Already in spring 2013, it had almost 50 new song sketches on her laptop and soon the theme of the upcoming album emerged: "Stadt Land Fluss". So not only is the opening track and the plate itself, the end of February 2015 appear on the own label "Honu Lani Records" and combines the best twelve numbers. The eponymous urban-rural issue is rather a life theme for the 28-year-old Traunsteinerin. ".. I wanted to earlier getting away, fell in love with the exciting and inspiring city life Then it pulled me back home, I wanted to get away again a continuous cycle," says Koreck, and adds: "I am the river that flows past the city and country. " The decision to move back to the countryside have, at first felt like a step backwards. "And yet I was longing overtaken again by the quieter, naturverbundenem country life."
City and country, far and near, pulsating and quiet - it's the way Hergerissenheit between these poles that runs lyrically and musically through the entire album. Therefore, "Stadt Land Fluss" perhaps their most consistent work, at least conceptually, for the first time there is a thematic framework. "In any case, this is my most unusual board," says Claudia Koreck sets. Route from the comfort nest, so the motto.
This also fits that the artist who makes music since she was twelve, and in 2007 with "Fliang" the breakthrough, had long trouble finding her strong voice. "I was missing after pregnancy simply the force," recalls the mother of two back. As in January 2014 her daughter Lani was born and the recordings on their list that singer initially had freely get their head and do exercises to feel well enough to einzusingen the vocals. On the plate there is no sound from the doubts - the numbers are marked by distinctive Korecks powerfully gentle voice. That the Bavarian sings in Bavarian, long no longer needs to be emphasized. "Dialect is something unconscious for me."
the urban pieces session like in the city recorded with: both in the city (in the Downtown Studios in MÜnchen), as well as in the country (in the basement studio of his own house near Traunstein) - were recorded the songs - even that is consistently band ( "Stadt land Fluss", "Barcelona"), in the countryside, the quieter songs ( "In da Wiesn", "Sun rises"). The result is a complex and homogeneous mixture of time driving and consuming arranged Soul rock pieces, blues numbers ( "Oide woman") and funk-heavy and soulful yearning melodies ( "Unknown Land", "number 13"). With "Sleep Little Darling" is, for the first time Ever to listen to a piece of Gunnar Graewert on a Koreck album: The tender-playful song is the recently born daughter devoted lullaby, in which their son Timmi eternalised has: the three year old sings the chorus - mind you in English.
A socio-political statement, however, is "absorbed Sun" in discovering where the songwriter processes the recent refugee dramas - and the title formative term "country" another facet coaxes. "Limitations and selfishness I do not understand," says Claudia Koreck.
New is not just a theme, even when the sound processing went Claudia Koreck and her producer Gunnar Graewert new ways: "So far we have all your own albums mixed," says Graewert. "this time we wanted to bring someone on board who goes impartially to work. We wanted to, Control Freak 'out of hand", he brings it to the point. Finally, he visited Henry Hirsch in the Waterfront Studios in New York to let enter the urban pieces his wife a special painting. Hirsch has worked with Lenny Kravitz, Vanessa Paradis, Tom Jones and Mick Jagger. His "spirit of the Seventies" blowing now through Korecks songs to recognize about the irresistible bass in "free", dares an elegant dance with Wurlitzer and string arrangements. What makes the mixer exactly is fOr laymen often difficult to understand. In simple terms, he pulls out certain tracks, others dampen. "He decides what to hear the ear", Claudia Koreck describes the fine-tuning of the New Yorkers.
FOr Surprising moments also provide international sounds and instruments, reaffirm the Korecks longing for the distance. In the placid-delicate homage "Greece" sings places in Greek; in "Purple Lem" she experimented with Arabic scales to hear are exotic-sounding instruments such banjolin, Cajon and dulcimer, and at the end enrich votes from Cameroon and Guinea, the sound robe.
Constants There are certainly also that there will be at Claudia Koreck always. There are, for example, beautiful song lines like in "free": "I los loss, time does stand / Heid is the meaning of life quite easy to understand / I am I, I just deaf was / I muass condemned nu moi ned guad ausschaugn here." Moreover, as the band, which is composed of proven Munich musicians sizes about Luke Cyrus Goetze and Titus Vollmer (guitars), Matthias Bublath (keyboards and piano) and Oscar Kraus (drums). New on bass is the American session musician Raoul Walton. It is remarkable how much space to get the musicians, resulting in exciting solos and a strong live charm. On the proven two-year rhythm in the publications you can just leave like the use of the Bavarian language. "This is not calculus," says Koreck, "Bairisch is for me something natural." Dialect hypes come home waves go - Claudia Korecks language remains. As a timeless expression. Her art anyway can only be explained insufficiently About the dialect.
Since 2013 is also the own label "Honu Lani Records" is a constant. Reminder: "Fliang" was released in 2007 with Sony Music, as "Barfuaß Around the World" (2009) and "humanity" (2011). Claudia Koreck was debut for her awarded double platinum. Since then she is almost constantly on tour successfully. Their first live album "I kon barfuass Fliang around the world and humanity" came out 2011th On "Honu Lani Records" was released two years later plate number four: "Honu Lani", named after the house on the island of Kauai, where the songs came to.
Hawaii, MÜnchen, Traunstein - all that is Claudia Koreck. City and country, all in the river.
