The Jamaican singer Omi was born on 09/03/1986 in May Pen (Clarendon, Jamaica) as Omar Samuel Pasley. He makes reggae, urban and pop music and became known worldwide in 2015 when the DJ Felix Jaehn his song "Cheerleader" coverte and landed a number one hit with the remix.
Omi grew up with three older siblings on the island of Jamaica and got his musical talent in the cradle set. Early on, he began to sing, and performed in front of audiences, regardless of whether this was now in school, church or community festivals. Omi had only one goal, he wanted to take the musical legacy of his father Kenroy who had made under the pseudonym Jah Ken in his native name as a portrait painter and musician. But before Omi was ten years old, died his beloved father from the consequences of a blood clot.
As a young man visited the Omi Garvey Maceo Hiagh School and earned a reputation developed an excellent entertainer. During breaks he sang and rapped for his classmates and discovered his talent for lyrics. Music and song took in the following years an increasingly important role in his life, and the dream of being a reggae musician slowly took shape.
The talent of Omi was eventually discovered by Clifton "Specialist" Dillon, who has worked with reggae greats like Shabba Ranks, Patra and Alborosie. Soon called upon own publications, including the song "Standing on All Threes" (2011) and "Cheerleader" (2012). The latter song was but three years later the big hit when the German DJ and music producer Felix Jaehn coverte the song and the whole world to "Cheerleader" danced in spring, 2015. The song was in Germany, England, the US and several other countries at the top of the singles charts.
