Metallica Biography

On 28.10.1981 the story of one of the most successful metal bands began with the founding of Metallica Lars Ulrich and James Hetfield in Los Angeles (California, USA) run their course. The impetus for the band name was Ulrich through a friend who at the same time looking for a name for a Metal magazine.

The band has been completed subsequently by Lloyd Grant, Dave Mustaine and Ron McGovney. In this constellation, Metallica took the first demo, mainly of cover versions consisting on. The audience, however, was not to be inspired by the new band, shouted prefer Mötley Crüe. This was followed by a second demo tape.

Jeff Warner flew in 1982 due to constant quarrels with Dave Mustaine and misconduct on the stage of the band. On 29.11.1982 Metallica played the first time as a headliner, the opening act Kirk Hammett joined with Exodus on. End of the year met Cliff Burton on bass to the group.

Dave Mustaine had the band on 04.09.1983 after several violent and alcoholic excesses leave. He was succeeded by Hammett. On 25.07.1983 the commercially less successful Metallica's debut album "Kill 'em All" was released. On 21.02.1986 appeared "Master Of Puppets", one of the favorite metal albums according to Rolling Stone Magazine, which simultaneously was the breakthrough of Metallica.

On 27/09/1986 an accident the tour bus the band in Sweden, while bassist Clifford Lee Burton was killed. Because of tour commitments Metallica had to react quickly despite the heavy loss, Jason Newsted took over the vacant post.

On 12.08.1991 the most successful album of the band appeared. Due to the dark cover it was baptized in the style of "The White Album" by the Beatles by the fans, "The Black Album", the actual title was "Metallica". It received over 20 platinum awards, was in Germany, Switzerland, UK and the USA to find at the top of their respective charts. The band also won a Grammy for Best Metal performance.

Following a tour with Guns 'N' Roses published the album "Load", shortly "ReLoad". The fans said Metallica due to the change of style from trash metal to hard rock an increasing commercialization by. Also the project "Symphony and Metallica", in which the band played with a classical orchestra was criticized by many in this direction.

Jason Newsted left in 2001, the group, probably because he had too little artistic license. He was replaced by Robert Trujillo of 2003. Following it was a little quieter to Metallica, until 2006, the boys went to Lars Ulrich and James Hetfield on tour again.

In autumn 2008, the long-awaited album "Death Megnetic" which remembered again more on the roots of the band in the thrash metal appeared. In addition, Metallica opened the same day, the O2 Arena in Berlin with a concert. In spring 2009, the band found its way into the Hi Of Fame of rock and roll.

Published in 2011, the band with Lou Reed a joint album titled "Lulu". For the fans, however, the project was not well received and flopped on the board. Two years later, Metallica toured the world and play as first band within one year on all continents. For this record a concert in Antarctica was held in December 2013. Extra.
