The Canadian pianist and composer Oscar Emmanuel Peterson is one of the most important figures of modern jazz mainstream. Born on August 15, 1925 as the fourth of five children of Caribbean immigrants in Montreal, he made his first musical experiences at the piano at the age of five years.
