Rush

Rush

Alex Lifeson, Geddy Lee and Neil Peart: Together they are Rush, the Canadian power-prog trio and a phenomenon in the history of rock.

How many bands come to mind that have totally done their thing, consistently passing the mainstream, with solid commercial success?

Rush have sold 40 million records. As for the number of its gold and platinum albums, they are on par with the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. In addition to Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen and Gordon Lightfoot They belong to the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame. Queen Elizabeth II, which somehow is still queen of Canada, gave them a medal, also known otherwise only by the Beatles and the Stones.

From blue rockers and Led Zep clones of late 1960 Rush were interesting prog rock science fiction figures in the 1970s. With synth drums and synthesizers, it went in the 1980s to the new wave and reggae track. Then there was Rush again as a guitar band, as sponsors of the 1990 Alternative. In recent years, it was "back to the roots".

Although there are several rock radio hits in their repertoire: "Tom Sawyer", "Finding My Way", "Fly By Night", "New World man", "The Spirit Of Radio", "Time Stand Still" ... is Rush won the influential band, you do not know, at least outside of North America and Japan. Alex, Geddy and Neil are no fashion icons like Lady Gaga, rather the opposite.

Rush's songs are about trees, freedom and fantasy, have strange science fiction lyrics like "... the massive gray walls of the Temples rise from the heart of the capital of the Federation".

To the beautiful appearance, it never went at Rush. To Sex and drugs and rock'n'roll went Rush never. As Rush in the 1970s with Kiss on tour, they let the groupies standing around outside the hotel room, watching television, they were gay? Rush were the epitome of the "nerds", before there was the concept. Awards of musicians-journals were dozens of times to the three.

While the media and the music press us have the Beatles and the Rolling Stones now over-explained, still places the Rush theme silence over the scroll and screen Wald. In the 1980s, the "Rolling Stone" slating them as musical beefcake, it sounded just desperate.

For their iconoclastic, totally uncommercial sound brought a Rush fan base of the caliber of a Grateful Dead: legions, in their devotion downright scary. Explained Celebrity fans of Rush are countless consensus-rock musician Gene Simmons of Kiss, Black Jack, Sebastian Bach of Skid Row, Kirk Hammett of Metallica, Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins, Vinnie Paul of Pantera.

2011 worked the band on their 20th studio album, "Clockwork Angels", together with Nick Raskulinecz, the co-producer of her 2007 US Top 3 album "Snakes Arrows ". When they're not on their "Time Machine" tour were criss travel across the world. End of May 2011 played Rush in Frankfurt / Main Germany their only concert of "Time Machine" tour. In irrlichternden pop business they remained true to himself and authentic.
