The Cranberries are back! The four-piece band with frontwoman Dolores O'Riordan was more than a decade with classics like "Linger," "Dreams" and "Zombie" regular at the charts and now brings their first new studio album in more than ten years on the road.
The result is called Roses and will be released on 10 February 2012 at Vertigo Berlin. The first single is entitled "Tomorrow" and will be published on 27 January 2012 Design. The album features eleven brand new songs from the Cranberries and was produced by her old friend and musical partner Stephen Street (The Smiths, Blur, Kaiser Chiefs). The songs are like little treasures that come from deep within the band soul. You remember the original and refreshing sound of their first two albums Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can not We? and No Need To Argue. The melodies have a lot of space to breathe and almost innocent character. The lyrics in turn have become more mature and deal with the trials and tribulations of life. Last year, 2010, the band embarked on a highly successful reunion tour with sold-out concerts that took them back and forth across the whole world. The band was founded in 1989 and was then called The Cranberry Saw You. The hits were within reach, and shortly after the deal was signed with Iceland Records, hit "Linger" at MTV America fully and was played there every hour. The song was a huge hit around the world; directly followed by the single "Dreams". It was a dream start to a memorable decade.
In 1994, the second, also produced by Stephen Street album No Need To Argue. The third album, To The Faithful Departed, was released in 1996, reflecting the rapid pace again, with the expired life of the four musicians. This time was Aerosmith producer Bruce Fairburn at the buttons and the sound of the band said goodbye to innocence in faster way, harder rock sounds with songs like "Free To Decide", "When You're Gone" and the concerts still very popular song "Salvation".
In 1999 she published her fourth album Bury The Hatchet and made their peace with the pop and rock fans. They were gone two years from the public eye, and now came forward with a more relaxed mix of pop and rock back, and with singles like "Promises", "Animal Instinct" and "Just My Imagination". After a long world tour they did in 2001 again with their original producer Stephen Street together to record their fifth album Wake Up And Smell The Coffee with Topsingles "Analyze" and "Pretty Eyes".
