The Cranberries

The Cranberries are back! The four-piece band with frontwoman Dolores O'Riordan was more than a decade with classics like "Linger," "Dreams" and "Zombie" regular at the charts and now brings their first new studio album in more than ten years on the road.

The result is called Roses and will be released on 10 February 2012 at Vertigo Berlin. The first single is entitled "Tomorrow" and will be published on 27 January 2012 Design. The album features eleven brand new songs from the Cranberries and was produced by her old friend and musical partner Stephen Street (The Smiths, Blur, Kaiser Chiefs). The songs are like little treasures that come from deep within the band soul. You remember the original and refreshing sound of their first two albums Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can not We? and No Need To Argue. The melodies have a lot of space to breathe and almost innocent character. The lyrics in turn have become more mature and deal with the trials and tribulations of life. "Good for me all the time it was clear that we make another album would," says guitarist Noel Hogan. "We had to retreat for a while - as we agreed. But now it's great to be back. "

Last year, 2010, the band embarked on a highly successful reunion tour with sold-out concerts that took them back and forth across the whole world. And during the daily soundcheck could Dolores, guitarist Noel Hogan, his brother Mike work on bass and drummer Fergal Lawler with fresh ideas and melodies on new songs in their distinctive sound.

The songs are very different - from light and summery "Fire and Soul" and the reggae-influenced "Raining in my Heart", to "Conduct Yourself", which sounds downright stormy. The Cranberries were before their break in a continuous cycle of albums and tours, so showing Roses, exempt from a band that is hungry again and the ambition has to find exactly the right sound. In every corner of presence: The extraordinary sound of Dolores O'Riordan's voice, the band's trademark that made them within a few years of a young, hopeful Irish group the late 80s to an MTV sensation and world stars.

The band was founded in 1989 and was then called The Cranberry Saw You. Shortly after the original singer left the band, Dolores O'Riordan auditioned in May 1990 and Noel, Mike and Fergal immediately knew that she had an exceptional voice found; and a songwriter whose lyrics perfectly matched to Noels characteristic guitar sound. The hits were within reach, and shortly after the deal was signed with Iceland Records, hit "Linger" at MTV America fully and was played there every hour. The song was a huge hit around the world; directly followed by the single "Dreams". It was a dream start to a memorable decade.

In 1994, the second, also produced by Stephen Street album No Need To Argue. Just rolled the grunge wave across the entire musical landscape of time and so can be found on the album besides the quiet, thoughtful tones of "Ode To My Family" and songs like "Zombie", the world shot with full power at No. 1, while almost a Feuerschweif seemed move here behind. The sales of the album were gigantic. Overall, the first two releases came to 20 million copies. The band was soon extremely clamped and at a free concert in the US there was a Fan Riot. As the Cranberries went back at the end of the tour to the studio to record the successor, they were one of the biggest bands in the world.

The third album, To The Faithful Departed, was released in 1996, reflecting the rapid pace again, with the expired life of the four musicians. This time was Aerosmith producer Bruce Fairburn at the buttons and the sound of the band said goodbye to innocence in faster way, harder rock sounds with songs like "Free To Decide", "When You're Gone" and the concerts still very popular song "Salvation".

In 1999 she published her fourth album Bury The Hatchet and made their peace with the pop and rock fans. They were gone two years from the public eye, and now came forward with a more relaxed mix of pop and rock back, and with singles like "Promises", "Animal Instinct" and "Just My Imagination". After a long world tour they did in 2001 again with their original producer Stephen Street together to record their fifth album Wake Up And Smell The Coffee with Topsingles "Analyze" and "Pretty Eyes". This was followed by tour to tour and in between she somehow found the time their Best to Promote of compilation Stars with 20 songs that appeared of 2002.

In september 2003, the band was thinking about a new album after, but then slammed on the brakes, interrupted the endless cycle of concerts and studio and went their separate ways. All four had been married by now and were happy about the break. They retreated from the limelight and devoted themselves to their young families. What was the pause regards quite successful. In a Kidsfun in Limerick recently, to which all four band members were invited, they noted that there are already more than six small Cranberries!

But while they took each other holidays, some of the members continued to search for new sounds. Dolores released two solo albums, Are You Listening (2007) and two years later No Baggage. Noel wrote and produced further and published in 2005 and later Monoband Arkitekt. Fergal was with several local acts from the area around Limerick active, z. B. The Low Network and Brendan Markham. And Mike kept completely away from studios and operational instead a successful restaurant in the center of Limerick.

2009 Mike and his brother Noel came together to play some Cranberries songs at an event that took place at a college in Dublin in honor of Dolores. Dolores says About the concert: "When we started to play it as if we had never stopped was. is playing with the Cranberries, like when you put on the perfect pair of shoes. It just fits. It is a special chemistry. "At the time Noel was back with the Dolores in contact and sent her a number of ideas for new songs. Due to the small acoustic gig the band was their cooperation gently back to life and stood within a year The Cranberries again in a few smaller shows on stage. The following year they were already at full speed on the road, on a world tour.

Some of the songs from the new album date back to the time before the band break 2003 such. B. "Astral Projection" and "Raining In My Heart". Others, like "Serendipity", "Conduct Yourself" and the first single "Tomorrow", emerged during the sound checks on tour in 2010. But there were also some unexpected moments during the recording sessions in April and May 2011. Metal Works in Toronto. So Dolores found for example at a free night when they actually had the movie Limitless wish to view, a melody that Noel had saved for you. They immediately fell and wrote the same evening a text to. She called the song "Roses" and now he is the title track of the sixth album of Cranberries. The band is looking forward to this album to inspire their fans and to win many new fans.

In her career, the band has sold more than 30 million albums, had four albums in the Billboard Top 20 and eight hit singles. They have performed in front of millions of fans around the globe and have played several times for the Pope. They have graced the cover of Rolling Stone and SPIN Magazine and occurred at Letterman and Leno.
