Yuja Wang was born on 10 February 1987 as the daughter of a musical family in Beijing. With six years she got her first piano lessons and made rapid progress as a student of the Beijing Conservatory. "I have always played in front of audiences," says Yuja Wang. "By playing I get to know my repertoire better. I need to occur in order to feel alive. It's different every time, it's all organic. "The spontaneity and intensity of their game is reflected in Yuja Wang's discography in German Grammophon. In 2009, she signed an exclusive contract with the yellow label, since it has recorded a number of standard-setting albums. Her latest album fOr German Grammophon, Yuja Wang / Ravel, with the Tonhalle Orchestra ZÜrich and Lionel Bringuier, will be released in October, 2015.

The New York Times boasted in her review "masterful, breathtaking performance" of Liszt's monumental B minor Sonata, one of the most important piano pieces of the 19th century. Since then, Wang is in every season in the Carnegie Hall returned and has thrilled audiences in sold-out regular standing ovations. Yuja Wang will start their season 2015/16 with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra and Tilson Thomas as part of the "European Festival tour" of the orchestra. The program will include works by Bartok and Beethoven at the BBC Proms, the Edinburgh Festival, the Rheingau and in Lucerne, the George Enescu Festival and in Amsterdam, Luxembourg and Paris. She plays all the violin sonatas of Brahms with Kavakos at the Edinburgh International Festival and Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto no. 2 on an Asian tour with the Concertgebouw Orchestra and Gustavo Gimeno. Other highlights of the season are Messiaen Turangalîla Symphony with the New York Philharmonic under Esa-Pekka Salonen and the Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra under Dudamel in Caracas and Europe. In February 2016 Wang plays with the Russian National Orchestra under Mikhail Pletnev Mozart's Piano Concerto no. 9, the "Jeunehomme concert" and Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto no. 2 during the US tour on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the orchestra.
